Smart Car Buying Tips

  1. Check for chips and cracks in the windscreen. If there are any, the windscreen will need replacing urgently. This could offer you some leverage in the negotiations.
  2. Try to find a Smart Car with a FSH (Full Service History)
  3. When checking over the Smart Car, look underneath and see if there are any leaks. Oil leaks will be fairly obvious if there's staining on the ground where the vehicle's parked.
  4. Wherever possible, take the vehicle for a short test drive to see how it handles and if there are any problems with steering, brakes, etc.
  5. Most vehicles should have 2 sets of keys; make sure you get both sets.
  6. Check that the tread on the tyres is safe. If the tread is worn down to below a safe level, you will need to replace them. Ask the seller if they are prepared to reduce the price to reflect this, or whether they will replace the tyres themselves before
  7. Check the current book price for Smart Car to see if the price is a fair reflection of its age/condition.
